“.... As we (heal), we move from fear to excitement, from separateness to connection, from seriousness to playfulness and a light heart. We become able to step back and watch ourselves with kindness, curiosity and a sense of humour. This puts us on solid ground to create (vibrant, enduring relationships). When we are able to take refuge in ourselves, we can (enter relationship) without fear because we feel whole no matter where we are.” (Catherine Johnson).

A Rookery is a safe place where birds can build nests together in order to protect themselves and build their families. Embarking on the journey to grow your family comes with complex layers that involve personal, societal and family matters. These decisions can leave an individual or couple feeling incredibly isolated, confused or alienated from those who do not understand or share their journey. Moving through these considerations can further alter our own standing on our wants, needs or abilities, leaving the entire process to feel overwhelming and at times lonesome. Joining a community of those who are experiencing similar stressors and concerns at different stages of the journey can help share the load and build safety and clarity, while giving you the tools to navigate many of these difficult decisions with confidence. Together we will learn, grow and support ourselves while creating a community of individuals to have for a lifetime – A Rookery. **

“Don’t ask your child to be perfect, ask them to be true to themselves.” (Dr. Shefali)
The journey of parenting can often be rocky—filled with ups and downs. Along the way, we sometimes need to reach out for support, validation, or advice in a safe and accepting environment. This series of workshops will explore conscious parenting and will also support you in your parenting challenges and celebrations.
During the workshop sessions, we will learn what conscious parenting is, and we will explore the conscious way of parenting—which challenges the traditional hierarchical parenting paradigm to one that is symbiotic in nature and steeped in connection. Conscious parenting is about connecting not correcting. We will examine seven common parenting myths. Additionally, we will explore and practice self-regulation and self-care. We will dive into what it means to connect with our children—how to do that authentically, so it counts. Our children are our biggest teachers and as we work through our own triggers and understand ourselves and our reactions, we can connect more fully to ourselves and to them. In addition to gaining practical tips, be ready to dive into your own triggers to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your child.
Who should attend:
You want to connect better with your child.
You find yourself correcting and giving your child advice rather than connecting with them.
You find yourself yelling or being short with your child.
You feel overwhelmed when your child has emotional outbursts.
You don’t know how to respond to your child when they act out.
You feel overwhelmed with parenting in general—constantly asking yourself if you’re doing it right.
You often feel like what you say doesn’t seem to impact your child and they do what they want anyway.
You’re not sure if you should set boundaries and if so, how? Which ones?
You wish that parenting was much easier than it actually is.
Goals for the workshop :
